9 best parts about travel

1. Anticipation: You count down the days until your flight. It’s like well-done suspense in a movie, or sexual tension. You prepare for it. Day dream. Google things.

2. Packing: There’s something empowering about choosing what you will need and/or want for your trip. You realize that you know yourself best. It is a time where you have your best interest in mind for once.

3. Being a Traveler: A traveler looks at-home where others look uncomfortable. They exude worldliness and confidence. They walk through the airport like they’re going places. Like they’re popular. Like their parents are super rich.

4. Meeting People: The universe has placed you two in the same moment on the same street. There’s a Greek word for this, I think: when a God creates an opportunity for you to say something you think is witty and for them to look at you like you’re weird and walk away.

5. Going with the Flow: It’s another Greek concept. Look it up.

6. Breaking Out of Your Comfort Zone: When you’re traveling, you do what you normally wouldn’t do. You try new foods. You go to the beach. You navigate foreign streets. And you get to put all of this on social media!

7. Assuming a New Identity: You like to feel the rush of answering questions with elaborate lies. Because when you’re traveling, no one knows you. You can use a new name. You can have a cool job. You can wear red.

8. Getting Away from It All: Job? Marriage? Children? All of these confront you when you stay in one place too long. When you’re traveling, you’re expanding your perspective. It’s enough.

9. Coming Home: You’ve explored different cultures, and perhaps you’re a little less scared of the world. You’re a different person after you travel. I mean, at one point, you were pretending to actually be a completely different person, weren't you? Now that person is part of you.
